The 900 Number was originally released in 1987 by DJ Mark the 45 King or The 45 King (real name Mark James). The 45 King was a member of the Flava Unit whose members included Queen Latifah, Chill Rob G and others. He also worked with MC Lyte.
The song The 900 Number samples a song by funk artist Marva Whitney (pictured at top) called Unwind Yourself. In 1996 DJ Kool wrote a song called Let Me Clear My Throat in which he wrote lyrics and placed them over the beat of The 900 Number.

I loved Yo MTV Raps! The Ed Lover Dance was one of the highlights of the show.
The 900 number is a classic! It is a definite head nodder and it will get any party jumping.
