So I was never too hyped about Facebook. The idea of it seemed okay but I was not that anxious to join. Anyway, I suppose I was bored one day a couple of months ago and that's how I ended-up on Facebook.
It was kind of interesting friending people from my past. Although I really must say that more than a few people are unrecognizable from their third grade selves. Anyway once I joined every few days I'd get a friend request from someone that I've known. The usual how are you and I'm fine would follow. The end.
Then things started to change. A person, whom I have not seen nor talked to in maybe 10 years, sent me their telephone number?
WTF?!
Then it happened again from someone else. And again. So far at least 7 or 8 people have sent me their telephone numbers. So I'm confused now. Am I actually supposed to call them? And if I do then what? What the heck are we going to talk about after all of these years?
You can only reminisce about how good the lasagna was at lunch during your freshman year in high school for so long and then you're just sitting their breathing into the phone. I mean really, why are people sending numbers now?
It has really been enough for me to just see people I knew and read their goofy, trying to be clever, Facebook posts. To which I will occasionally click 'like'. And that really seemed to be all there was to it.
So if I don't call these people am I rude?
Do Facebook friends, who you haven't seen or talked to for years, send you their numbers? If so do you actually call?

I've never had that happen. I've only gotten phone numbers from people that I had been really close with but fell out of touch for some reason.
I probably wouldn't call those numbers but I have been accused of being rude before....
I deleted my Facebook account months ago. I found it more burdensome than fun. I was constantly contacted by people I didn't want to be contacted by...lol! I realize that they had no way of knowing that I didn't want to be contacted by them but the feeling remained the same.
I got the page to do some networking and possibly meet some cool folks along the way. I didn't have the attention span or the patience to be there enough to be a successful FB user.
I don't think you a rude because you don't want to be bothered with people you haven't seen in god knows when, if you don't reply they'll get the point.
Funny post!
That's never happened to me on FB, but I did get a couple of requests for my address from old time childhood friends so they could send a Christmas postcard,one of those family portrait ones.
I dunno, my thoughts are that they just liked you so much they wanna talk???
What you could do is put them on your phone book in case they ever call you'll know who it is. I would say, "thanks so much for the number" and that's it,
Dunno....I guess???.
Looks like you're in a bit of a biiiind! LOL!
Well wait, they're not gonna call cause they don't have your number! (smack my head) I think I'm getting chemo brain!!!
Heard dat. I rarely login to my a FB account. Social networks can get tedious after a while. My true friends have my contact info & I have theirs.
One.
@Kingsmomma
So that's one for not calling!
Jason
Yeah I thought it might be fun too after my initial reservations. Seems my initial reservations were correct, its getting to be a worry.
@Desertflower
"Looks like you're in a bit of a biiiind! LOL!"
Yep. And I hate offending people. I know they are just being nice.
@Lin
Maybe I'll only check my FB account once a month. Then I'll have that as an excuse not to call. Lol
