What amazes me is that so many middle-class Americans have been duped into supporting American plutocracy. Namely the Tea Party folks, who have become the 'peasants for plutocracy'. But with the Tea Partiers I think their rabid racism is blinding them to what they are really supporting. The illustration above is a perfect picture of how idiotic the Tea Party movement really is.

I'm not convinced the tea party movement is that big,certainly not the majority among the middle class. However, not nearly enough people are awake to the vast structural changes underway in this country. Perhaps that's because they've taken so long to mature.
The social contract and the jobs market really began to started in the late 1970s. Blue collar steel and auto workers were among the first groups to be decimated. By the late 1970s, real wages began to stagnate. After the 1991 recession, the job market did not full bounce back, the same happened after the 2001 recession. Only consumer credit spending and inflated housing values kept people afloat--at least until 2008.
The real question is what happens now? Currently one out of five men age 25-54 is unemployed, that does not even count those who are chronically underemployed, or who have stopped looking for work. I'll being finishing up my grad degree next year and I'm trying to deal with the idea that I could very well be joining those folks. It's a very scary time.
Every form of government eventually leads to a plutocracy.
When the markets failed we should have just had a Jubilee year and just called it even without the huge banking bailouts.

I agree, I don't think the Tea Party is as big is many, the media, would like us to think. I believe the media thinks that the Tea Party will bring them big ratings in November and in 2012, so that's why they hype them up.
I think the job market began to change during the Regan presidency. He's the one that began killing unions all over the country beginning with the air traffic controllers. Unions mostly have never recovered and the power shift was back to the companies.
You know, you may want to consider staying in school after you get your grad degree. In two years the job market will be strong again, I think.

I hope that at some point we will have some reform to quell the plutocracy. I've got my fingers crossed.
