A couple of months ago Apple introduced it's new electronic device the ipad. Since then I really don't remember seeing any advertisements for the ipad. Then it occurred to me Friday, after reading a piece about the ipad in a newspaper and catching a few stories on TV news about it, that Apple didn't need to spend any money on advertising the ipad. Why? Because the so-called news media was giving them millions of dollars in free advertising by doing story after story on the ipad over the last two months.
First there were stories about the unveiling of the ipad. Then stories about the day it would go on sale. Then there were reviews of the device. Then stories about how many millions Apple was expected to sell. Then stories about people waiting on line overnight to buy the ipad. And on and on.
Btw, if you Google "ipad" there are over 47 million results.
If only the media had been following Wall Street as closely as they've followed the ipad we all might have had some warning before the financial meltdown.

Preach! One of the reasons we all should look at news and information presented to us with a third eye and listen with a third ear.
47 million results.
Scary.
What is the catch here? I don't understand all the media attention towards an electronic device.
I watched the Baylor/UCONN game last night. Griner will have some help next in the form of two prized recruits. Baylor will be heard from again. UCONN is scary.
@BigMac
Exactly. If one watches the news these days without a critical eye it's easy to become a victim of hype rather than substance.
@Don
Yeah, what is the catch?! You would think that the news media owns shares of Apple the way they promote their products.
I expect Brittney to do big things over the next three years. I def think Baylor will win a championship with her.
Unfortunately I missed the game as I'm cableless. I was going to go to a friends to check it out but it started raining so I just stayed home. :-(
This device (or others like it) are being tested as a replacement for text books.
Instead of reprinting new books every few years these devices can just be updated on WiFi.
There is a lot of upside to this product.
