This is the Halle Berry Syndrome, where actresses of color only pair up with White men on screen. I suppose the filmmakers think that this will give the film broader appeal? Do the actresses think that doing this will lead to success ala Halle in Monster's Ball?
Btw, Jennifer played a hotel maid who fell for a White guy who was a guest at the hotel she worked in her last film. Wow, what idiot came up with that idea for a film.
Well Jennifer Lopez has another film coming out this weekend where she plays a romantic lead opposite a White guy. The premise of the film is some nonsense about Jennifer's character being artificially inseminated and then after she becomes pregnant she meets the (White) man of her dreams.
When will actresses of color play romantic leads opposite actors of color? I mean when is the last time an A list White actress played a romantic lead opposite an actor of color? Doesn't happen too often does it.

Actor and actress of color will play a lead romactic role with a white person,when hell frezzes over!
Yup! That's why I don't go to movies anymore. I only see documentaries or comedies. Otherwise I'm tired of being fed the hype...
@BIgMac
Exactly.
@cactusrose
You're right, it is all hype. Seems some things never change.
Good observations, Val.
I knew this to be the case with Halle Berry but I hadn't really paid close attention when it arrived at Jennifer Lopez. Thing is - I believe audiences would love to see Halle Berry be given another Losing Isiah role.
It might happen one day. One day. Ha!
@Don
Unfortunately I truly believe Halle wouldn't play another 'Losing Isaiah' type role. I think she would think that's beneath her now.
I think it will only happen when people of color are greenlighting major films and I'm don't consider the crap that Tyler Perry makes major films.
Apparently Halle carried the "syndrome" right into her her own life.
Val,
This is the "new" thing that Hollywood is doing now. They take a minority woman that is very light skinned and pair her with a white guy. That way they can say that they do have "minorities" in their films and they have an actress that isn't threatening to the audience. Imagine Lisa Raye and Brad Pitt....ha ha ha ha But Rashida Jones and Brad Pitt - that is a different story. Good job for noticing.
@?
I guess but I'm not concerned about her private life. I'm concerned about the power of mass media and it's constant attack on relationship between people of color.
@CO
I wish Rashida would play a Black woman just once. Lol
Hollywood movies are written, produced and green-lighted by (mostly) white males.
The images you see are THEIR fantasies.
@UBJ
True. We need a Black Hollywood.
