I actually did a bit of research on this and it appears both spellings, canceled/ cancelled, are correct. Mainly the spelling with one L is done in the U.S. Brits mostly spell it with 2 L's.
But it's interesting to note that when airlines cancel a flight and post it on electronic signs at airports they spell it cancelled.

Don't feel bad that's how I spell it too. And that's even with spellcheck telling me I'm wrong.
