I was considering getting a Kindle from Amazon.com. That is until I noticed that many of the authors I read are not available for Kindle. Mainly I read books by people of color and Amazon does not make many of those available for Kindle.So as I consider Apple's new iPad (kind of a goofy name) I'm wondering if their selection of authors will be more diverse than Amazon's. If so and if the New York Daily News is available then I could def see paying $499 for one.
What are your first impressions of iPad?

I just read that although lots of people bought it here,it still disappoints in that it has no camara, although the company has issued a statement that the next one in about 6 months will have one. No USB port, no GPS and that it is so slick that it falls easily from the hands. This I read in a newspaper here.

This platform could replace schoolbooks for future generations.
Think about it - able to upload and update content for classes in a medium with which children are familiar.
I prefer books but this has a lot of potential.

Some universities are already using Kindle. But the price of these devices might be a problem for already underfunded schools.
