Hopefully you've heard by now that there is a major food recall going on. This time it's eggs that are being recalled because of salmonella contamination. The media is all over the recall. But to me it's a non-story. The American food supply is not safe and hasn't been since corporations began selling us our food.
When you put a couple of hundred thousand chickens in a barn, where they can't spread their wings much less actually move then what do you expect. Corporate chickens live a hell-like existence. Their living conditions are astoundingly unhealthy. So why is anyone surprised that factory eggs have been contaminated with salmonella? Heck I'd be surprised if eggs weren't contaminated.
And this and the food recalls of the past several years are only the beginning. Stay tuned because as corporate food companies look for ways to maximize profits it's food safety that will suffer.
Note: There were a few videos I found of corporate factory egg operations but they were so gross I decided not to post them.

Don't forget the hogs and pigs raised in the same manner.
Because of that I limit my intake of pork.
Until we start to grow and maintain our own foods,we are in a crap shoot when it comes to our food sources.

Yep, corporate farms are pretty disgusting. If you haven't seen it check out the documentary Food, Inc. It shows all that stuff.

Yeah people get scared off of a particular food when this stuff happens. We had a spinach recall a couple of years ago and I haven't eaten any spinach since.
And I have a feeling I won't be eating any eggs anytime soon either. Becasue as you say they can tell us they are free range but how do we know for sure.
Yep, there is always some disease of the month or food scare and the media always plays them up without any perspective. Remember how the pig flu was supposed to wipe out hundreds of millions of people? And before that bird flu?
Lol, yeah that egg is out of control.
Jiminey Cricket! Now there's something wrong with eggs?
How about a side of e coli too?
@Jason
Yep. Shame isn't it.
@?
That's probably next.

I just don't have the nerve to try spinach yet.
Wow, sorry to hear about the food poisoning. That makes me wonder if fast food restaurants here have stopped serving eggs?
I rarely eat at fast food restaurants. For one I'm very picky about my food and two the stuff just isn't healthy.

Oh my, I hope you feel better soon.
What is, "the high street"?
Is that an area known for restaurants there?

Thanks! I love learning new stuff.
I was watching this story this morning as I was eating scrambled eggs at a hotel in Columbia, South Carolina.
...eggs were good. Some cheese would have set them off though.
@Reggie
Careful with the sarcasm, you have about 12 more hours before you're in the clear. Lol
