Have you noticed that when the mainstream media does a story on the recent earthquake in Haiti they always include that Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere? If the MSM is going to remind us of Haiti's poverty then they should also remind us that Haiti is poor in large part because the West has been punishing it since the Black people of Haiti freed themselves from Slavery.
Case in point; The U.S. has a wet foot/ dry foot policy for Cubans trying to get in this country. Which means if a Cuban is able to get to shore then they are allowed to stay in the United States. Haitians aren't so lucky. Even if they make it to U.S. soil they are deported back to Haiti. This was done even when Haiti was embroiled in civil war and returning may have meant being killed. This policy remains in effect.
So as the media reports on Haiti and the devastating earthquake it has suffered and on Haiti's poverty I hope they will also report on the unfair treatment Haiti and it's people have received and continue to receive at the hands of Western nations.
It's time for the U.S. to change it's policy of deporting Haitian refugees and time for the West to stop punishing the people of Haiti for fighting for and gaining their freedom.

First off, I hate that I had to come looking for you. ha. But I am glad that I found you.
It's interesting the things I have learned from the better bloggers such as yourself. I never knew the policy you speak of even existed. That's strange how America, the home of the free, has their picks and chooses.
@Don
This policy must change. It is completely unfair.
And Thanks.
I was going tell you about this blog but your blog has been locked down for a while. Glad you found me.
