I have a few questions about my blog

One of my blog friends has been having issues seeing my blog properly. She is seeing a red x above the videos I post. As well some of the things on my sidebar don't look right to her. I haven't seen what she's seeing. So I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing anything 'off' about the way my blog is looking?

Please let me know if things look normal or not, thanks!

I'm posting this video to see if everyone is seeing it normally.

Hey Val:

I too see a box w/ a little red
'x'. This once happened to me a while back. It may be a browser-related problem. I have I.E. Maybe you use a different browser (FF, perhaps?)where you see what you're supposed to see, & those w/out the same browser get a different view.

One.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary. But this once happened to me. I used FF to construct my blog and the layout but my friend was using something else. When she went to work and viewed in in FF it was fine. She switched to FF and hasn't had any problems.

Good luck

@Lin

I think you nailed it; I checked my blog using IE and I saw the red x and the box above the video.

Thanks so much!

Yep, that is the problem. I use FF to make my posts. I checked my blog using IE and it looked weird.

Thanks!

I just wanted to mention that if a website was designed well, it wouldn't matter which browser was used to view it, the page realy should look pretty much the same or similar in each page.

Anyway, I think it's more to do with some malicious code being on the site. That's what I think.

Also blogs are being hijacked, your blog could be hijacked and you would still have access to it.

I have seen this being done. Also, many high traffic blogs are being stolen and sold. You can Google it if you don't believe me. My blog has been hijacked and one time I was locked out completely.

Google need to sort their sites out, I am getting fed up really.

Gmail accounts are hacked too. I have a fake Gmail account attached to my blogger. So, if you reset the password, the hijacker can still access your blog.

I am sure google knows what I am talking about. Besides, I am sure they can see unauthorised activity in a person's account with their all seeing eye.

I have put some links in my profile of blogs telling their story of gmail and blog hijacks.

When I visited your site using Google chrome browser, the videos would appear double. SInce I now visit using FireFox everything appears normal.

I've never seen the red X.

You're right. It shouldn't matter. Blogger is a very buggie application. And for some reason they are very slow to fix things.

Yeah there's a lot of crazy stuff going on all the time. I also wish google was more attentive.

I'm going to check out those posts on your site.

Thanks!

Hi Val,

Well, depending on which browser you use, you can see different things, so I understand why you may not be seeing what I'm seeing.

In Internet explorer, for example, the blogger /Navbar at the top of the page looks as though it has been tampered with or replaced in some way. Basically speaking, the Navbar has been hijacked. There are many advantages to hijacking the Navigation bar such as manipulating the search function for financial gain by redirecting the page elsewhere.

Also, they can cheat the search engines by using other blogs to improve search engine rank and steal or spy on keywords.

A few long months ago, I used to help out and answer queries in the Google help forums. I noticed that, just like the ebay forums there was hardly any Google employees around to help out and answer queries. Many of the blog problems were answered by regular folks or Top contributors who do not get paid. I decided that I wasn't answering any more questions there as I feel that a large multi-million corporation such as Google should provide some staff to answer queries in their forums.

You could be right, someone may have done something but I wouldn't know what to do about it.

That's the thing about the internet, it can be used for good and for bad. Hopefully my pc protection will keep the bad guys at bay.

Yeah, I don't know why google doesn't do better with blogger issues. They seem to be a bit lackadaisical about keeping blogger bug free.

I consider moving to Wordpress sometimes, have you?

Hi Val,

You can report problems in the blogger forums, however, sometimes the people there can be very rude, soetimes helpful.

I feel that the blogger issues stem from the fact that there are a number of abandoned blogs hanging around the Internet filled with malicious code. When you complain about these on the forums, nobody cares.

I have even left comments on one of Google's official blogs regarding their Google.com domain spreading malicious code over the Internet, nothing.

This has been happening now for a good long while, all the problems with the blogs, it is even worse now that there are so many gadgets that can be installed on the blogs. Some of these gadgets have malicious code within them, or have some kind of exploit attached to it, from my observations.

I have considered moving over to Wordpress. The only reason why I have stayed so long with Google's blogger is that I like the dashboard and what they do when they do it RIGHT.

Well, I have just changed my PC protection from Norton because it has not protected my computer adequately enough. Only when I changed my Internet security was I able to find out a few things, hence the really mad post on my blog. I realised that somehow, my blog has not only been hijacked, but the hijacker has been editing my posts and I had some very personal posts in the drafts section of my blogs. That was extremely annoying.

Also, I always moderated comments, and one time, about a year ago, I logged in to find comment moderation off. There were a few other things wrong with the blogs, so I started fishing around to look for the problem, and then I found that some of the anonymous commenters somehow managed to put some malicious code on my blog.

Anyway, I found out a few more things once I started reading the forums. Blogs are being hacked and hijacked on a daily basis.

I just read a thread on the forums and one of their top forum contributors claims that a lot of the gadgets that people are installing on the blogs contain bugs, yet Google still allows these gadgets to be installed, knowing this.

I find the whole thing just ridiculous and it is also irresponsible, but if Google were paying attention and deleting these empty blogs filled with malicious codes and exploits, then we wouldn't have half these problems.

Ok, start with your profile picture, I think that has definitely been edited if you didn't name it with the title which it has.

I noticed that something happened to my blogger profile but I didn't think anything of it until the other day when I started noticing some weird things.

Example, when I comment, sometimes my poictures shows up, sometimes it doesn't. So I went to my web albums and there were about 4 pictures that, so I deleted them all and left one. I noticed that it looks as though I have two blogger profiles. So depending on which profile I'm logged in with, I think they swap between each other.

Also, I made a post and I got two emails. The posts had been posted twice and I think they had two different titles, so I started wondering.

Anyway, when your blog has been hijacked, it IS possible for you to post and the hijacker also has access to what you have access to.

I think that particular exploit comes through the blogger comments. Also, I remembered when I was at University, there was a guy studyingcomputer science, and we were showing our separate blogs to each other. So we decided to add each other as team members but neither of us got the invitation, so, maybe somehow the invites were intercepted.

Anyway, this problem is not confined to my blog, it seems many people are having this problem. Also people are setting up fake gmail accounts to be able to access other people's accounts. I read about one guy who had his wordpress hijacked and the hijacker had used a fake gmail account similar to his.

Soldier Of Love

I've lost the use of my heart
But I'm still alive
Still looking for the life
The endless pool on the other side
It's a wild wild west
I'm doing my best

I'm at the borderline of my faith,
I'm at the hinterland of my devotion
In the frontline of this battle of mine
But I'm still alive

I'm a soldier of love.
Every day and night
I'm soldier of love
All the days of my life

I've been torn up inside (oh!)
I've been left behind (oh!)
So I ride
I have the will to survive

In the wild wild west,
Trying my hardest
Doing my best
To stay alive

I am love's soldier!

I wait for the sound
(oooh oohhh)

I know that love will come (that love will come)
Turn it all around

I'm a soldier of love (soldier of love)
Every day and night
I'm a soldier of love
All the days of my life

I am lost
But I don't doubt (oh!)
So I ride
I have the will to survive

In the wild wild west,
Trying my hardest
Doing my best
To stay alive

I am love's soldier!

I wait for the sound

I know that love will come
I know that love will come
Turn it all around

I'm a soldier of love
I'm a soldier

Still waiting for love to come
Turn it all around
(4x)

I'm a soldier of love
I'm a soldier

Still waiting for love to come
Turn it all around
(3x)

Still waiting for love to come
