Nicki Minaj is unique. And that's really saying something these days with so many cookie-cutter singers and rappers out there. Though she is associated with Lil Wayne and mainstream rap I think of her more as sort of a punk rapper. Between her rap flow, which reminds me of punk singers musical deliveries, to her very unique outfits and her fans, she is definitely a punk rapper.
I haven't bought a rap album in a very long time but I plan to buy Nicki's album.

Colorful wigs and outrageous outfits aside, Nicki can really rhyme. I would encourage anybody that disagrees to do some Niki Minaj research on Youtube.
She is doing what she needs to do to be a star in the pop culture lexicon. As ridiculous as she may come off to some people, she is actually a unique presence as far as hip hop is concerned. There is nobody like Nicki rhyming, male or female.
I am not a fan of any of her released singles but I love the mixtape stuff and I don't plan to buy her album (at this point anyway), but I give her props for being talented enough to become a stong female presence in a male dominated rap world.
As far as autographing the ass. Who else would do that? That is one of the reasons why she is winning, total dedication to her fanbase.
definitely more aggressive on her mixtapes than her released singles. i believe her image is one of punk rapper, as you stated, and her overall zaniness enhances her appeal among her fanbase. i like her verses in the Ludacris song My Chick Bad & Kanye West's Monster. i don't know about signing that particular ass though.
@Jason
I totally agree. Nicki is a unique presence on the hip hop landscape. I love that she is not afraid to go against the norm.
And I also love that her lyrics aren't explicit in the way the Lil Kim/ Foxy Brown's lyrics always seem to be.
@Don
Nicki's verses are the only thing I like about that Luda song. I love her flow!
Lol@i don't know about signing that particular ass though.
@Beauty and Health Editor
Lol@good thing I wasn't eating
I just hope that Nicki threw that pen away!
No doubt Nicki's a gorgeous girl, w/ an exceptional killa body. But does she have staying power? Will people be quoting her stuff in 5, 10, 20 years? Kinda doubt it.
I may be a tad too old in my tastes to appreciate her act. I mean, I DO GET it, but I'm not amused/entertained by it. To me, she's a wannabe Lil Kim (whom I DO dig & note her skillz):
"Bitches suck cock just to get to the top. I put 100 percent in every line I drop."
Kim is a MONSTA! That's so real it's practically a CCN report. LOL!
Nicki has become Hip-hop's ansa to Gaga, & Gaga is a clone of those outrageous chicks who came before her, i.e. Grace Jones, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Annie Lennox, Cher, etc.
Originality is a hard act to pull off nowadays, b/c we've seen so much ish thrown against a wall, masquerading as ART.
Sad that someone w/ talent has to be made a spectacle of before anyone even pays attention. But that's just the way of this crazy world.
One.
@Lin
I hear you but...I'll take Nicki's flow over Kim's any day. I think all the hype surrounding Nicki causes people to miss her talent.
As to whether she'll be remembered 20 years from now; that I think depends on the people, music producers/ lyricists, she surrounds herself with.
