What you see above is called, "The Luther Burger". Legend has it that it was an invention of the late great R&B crooner Luther Vandross. The Luther Burger is sold at Mulligan's, a bar in Decatur, Georgia.
The Luther Burger consists of two beef patties, a few strips of bacon and a slice of cheese. The calorie count is somewhere in the vicinity of 1000.
I don't even know where to start. First, did Luther really invent this? Likely we'll never know for sure. And why would anyone want to eat a burger with a Krispy Kreme doughnut as the bun?!
The Luther Burger is an example of what people eat in a country that takes food for granted. I'm pretty sure one Luther Burger could feed a family of four for at least two days. If someone ever sat a Luther Burger in front of me I'd run! Yikes!

I'd love to know how many grams of saturated fat are in that baby. It's no wonder America has the highest number of obese citizens in the developed world.
@?
I don't know how much fat is in it but I know it's more than any human needs in one meal!
Geesh, that picture disgusted me on one level and tantalized me on another. I just cannot help it; I am a fat American!
This is why I try to eat mostly organic veggies and meat. I am addicted to junk food so eating right usually curbs those cravings. Usually.
@Mahndisa
Ha! The Luther Burger just scares me!
I gave up meat a while ago. So far I don't miss it. Fortunately there are lots of farmer's markets and organic groceries near me. Which means I can eat a huge variety of vegetables and not miss meat too much.
I doubt if there would be anything to make me order a burger w/ donuts as hamburger buns.
I have something for one of my favorite bloggers:
close your eyes...

@Don
I googled http://twitpic.com/21dip2 and it said no documents? How do I get to the pic?
The argument can be made that we have a right to eat what we want to eat, but any place that even had that on their menu-- I don't even want to go there. That should be a crime. It's poison. Restaurants that serve High fat,cholesterol- rich foods to people that want it is like people that sell crack to people that want it.
@Daij
I agree. The Luther Burger should be illegal!
