What's up with those Higginbothams?

Joan Higginbotham

I've heard of a lot of Black people with the last name Higginbotham. And the one thing they have in common beside being Black is that they are all successful. I have never come across a Black person named Higginbotham who wasn't successful. I went to high school with a Higginbotham. I don't know what he's doing now but he was a straight A student back then.

So what's up with that?

Eve Higginbotham - senior vice president and dean of health sciences at Howard University

Aloysius Leon Higginbotham, Jr. (1928-1998) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Joan Higginbotham - is an American engineer and a former NASA astronaut. She flew aboard Space Shuttle Discovery mission STS-116 as a mission specialist.

Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham - is the Victor S. Thomas Professor of History and of African and African American Studies at Harvard University.

F. Michael Higginbotham - Wilson H. Elkins Professor of Law, University of Baltimore School of Law

J.C. Higginbotham - Swing Trombone Pioneer.
