And even more amazing is that 54 people being shot in a 48 hour period didn't even make the front page in the Chicago newspapers. I'm not sure if that speaks to newspapers being seriously out of touch or that the city is just numb to the violence. As well there was barely a mention of this in the mainstream media. But most of the people shot were poor and Black so that's par for the MSM's course.

I think people are immune to inner city violence for the most part. In a way, this could have happened in Afghanistan as far a most people are concerned.
Only read about this senseless sadness online. I find it ironic that none of this made the National news reports, especially since Obama called Chicago home. Seems like the media would have jumped all over it, if only to make him and the area look bad in the eyes of the world.
One.
It certainly never made too much of an impact as far as headlines news. This is my first time even reading of the violence. I hardly ever watch TV yet in still it seems that I would have read about it on Twitter or somewhere.
Sometimes I guess it is better not to sensationalize insanity. But, damn, at warn somebody. Seriously.
*at least warn somebody.
@?
It would have gotten more press had it happened in Afghanistan.
@Lin
Yeah you'd think so wouldn't you. But since Obama doesn't really pay attention to Black communities I think it gives the media even more license to ignore them.
@Don
Yep, somehow even the blogisphere seems to have missed this for the most part. That's sad. But we all know if this had happened in Chicago's Lincoln Park the news trucks would still be there.
