When a couple of goofballs invaded the White House last fall the President didn't have any problem deciding to make former White House social secretary Desirée Rogers the scapegoat. Even though Desirée wasn't responsible for White House security. That would be the Secret Service. And Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan still has his job.

McChrystal and his team have made some very critical statements in Rolling Stone Magazine about not only Vice President Biden and Senators Kerry and McCain but also a member of McChrystal's team said McChrystal thought President Obama was unprepared and intimidated by him during their first meeting together. Pretty bad stuff for a sitting General to say, right.
So if anyone on McChrystal's team is a Black woman she'd better watch out because we all know the President isn't going to fire McChrystal.
Update: It appears that I was wrong. Obama, according to news reports has fired McChrystal. The reports also say that General David Petraeus is going to take his place. Good for President Obama.

President Obama needs to make a statement with this rouge General.
I have heard a few people say that the President now has the General where he wants him,and will not fire him or let him retire.
Hard for me to say what our President will do,I know President Bigmac would kick him to the curb,with all the bells and whistles!

I couldn't agree more, McChrystal needs to be fired. But I think we both know that's not going to happen. Obama will act as though he read him the riot act and that the General gets it now and he'll go back to work.
And speaking of back to work: yea! Glad to hear you're back to work. Don't work too hard. :-)
Apparently his job isn't safe; he's officially gone with the wind. Of course what does it matter? The war will be just a big a waste of time and money after this guy is gone.

Thanks for the update. I hadn't heard that he was officially gone. Good for Obama. And I agree that this war is a waste. Everyone thought Iraq was going to turn into another Vietnam but it appears that Afghanistan is the real Vietnam.

Well they say the U.S. is in Afghanistan to fight the Taliban but I keep hearing about huge mineral deposits there. I think it might be the latter.

The post originally threw me for a loop (the title) but as I continued reading I understood it was written before Obama's decision. What does it say about a president that appeared intimidated and truthfully really is/was unprepared?
It reminds me of Dorothy Rabinowitz's story (via Field Negro) where she spoke of Barack Obama being the "alien in the White House." This, after it appears Obama takes a different approach to foreign matters than former presidents and leaders of countries.
I bet Barack Obama had to feel really crunchy after hearing the remarks and everything. Honestly, I think the war is dumb anyway. I read about the deposits worth well over a trillion dollars. But since I view the war as being dumb the only "smart" decision that can be made afterward would be to end the war.

You know the routine. Desirée submitted her resignation but in reality she was forced to. Saying she submitted it allows her to save a little face.
Those remarks by McCrhystal seemed almost juvenile. For a sitting General to utter that the President was intimidated by him is really beyond being unprofessional.
Afghanistan is the new Vietnam. It's going to choke the economic growth of the U.S. too. And those minerals aren't going to help you or me. But somebody is going to get rich off of them, that's for sure.
Agreed. For the life of me I could never understand why the USA continues to fight an endless war. It's really insane. Bad enough they have to beg and borrow from China. But when the USA understands the financial disasters of such acts, and still promotes the war, I have to really wonder if I am entered The Twilight Zone.
I believe McCrhystal was on some mo' ish when he made those statements. I know you will laugh, but I honestly believe Rogers resigned on her own. Seriously.
And as long as we both blog ... I will make sure that you find it difficult to turn your back on Alicia Keys. *grins*

I watched Alicia this morning on GMA and I was pissed at her! But my feelings are starting to moderate a little I suppose since I actually watched her. So, yeah I'm gonna count on you to keep me from turning my back on 'licia. :-)

This is the same Twilight Zone that the U.S. was in during Vietnam. Which means as a nation we didn't learn anything from that.
