In George Orwell's fictional book 1984 he tells a story about government watching the people. He uses the term, "Big Brother", which is a euphemism for government. In 1984 Big Brother, the government, is always watching. But it seems that Big Brother in modern times isn't government but the people who are watching each other.
We see dozens of news reports each month about crimes and other events being caught on cell phone cameras. And no one hesitates to turn the photos or video over to the government.
Isn't it amazing that government now has us working for it catching each other doing all sorts of things. We have been trained well haven't we.

Yes we really have been trained well Val. This realization has really gotten to me lately and caused a bit of cynicism to well up and pour out!!! We are a nation of tattle tales! In some situations, the mob ought to stop the crime instead of film it! Your blog is colorful and has a nice feel.
I guess it's a good thing the government is incompetent then.
A society of tattle tales? Where I live I wish more would tattle. This "Stop Snitchin" stuff is a mess and people will continue to kill and be killed till someone steps up and testifies.
I could care less what the street thinks, If you did it, the unaquivacle right thing to do is testify.
Then again, I don't want big brother listening to my phone calls.

"...In some situations, the mob ought to stop the crime instead of film it!"
I agree with that. Everyone becomes detached through a lens and that's really the problem.
@?
Lol, yeah I guess.
@brohammas
But there's a difference between tattling and reporting crimes. I am def not advocating for, "Stop Snitching". I think that's dangerous. But when we all walk around ready to film for the government that's dangerous as well.
@Mahndisa
And thanks for the kind words about my blog. I've finally gotten it to look like I want it to.
The vibe in the streets is that we have to take the law into our own hands to get things done these days. That's one of the reasons they are fighting over these gun laws. We are already turning ourselves into celebs using our own equipment so I'm not suprised that we have become crime fighters. Maybe they will make a reality show out of it.
@CO
Yeah that everybody needs a gun stuff is getting out of hand. Individuals gun ownership is so backward. But America is a backward nation. My hope is that once the baby boomers aren't in charge anymore that things might change. Baby boomers are afraid of everything. Thus they feel the need for guns.
Hahahahaha @ We have been trained well haven't we.
And then I look over and see Sarah Palin winking. Too funny.
Love this post. I believe it says where we are as a society and where we are headed. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing though. Some things should be kept private, I believe. Barring crime.
@Don
Yeah and unless you are in your own home almost everything you do is likely to be caught on video. That's scary.
