It has occurred to me that clean-up workers on the Gulf Coast are removing tons of oil soaked sand from beaches. So I'm wondering where all of the oil soaked sand is going? Is it just sitting somewhere creating another environmental disaster? The media doesn't talk about it. I suppose in a few weeks when they, the MSM, tires of doing the same interviews over and over with people affected by the spill one of them will wonder where all the oily sand is going. Until then I guess I'll just have to wonder and worry. Sigh.

Depressing isn't it?!?
@Reggie
Yep. Very.
I have wondered the same thing, Val. Even though all of us are suffering or going to suffer from this disaster, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they deposited this stuff in or near a low income area off the radar.
@Penny Wize
That would not surprise me at all. That kind of thing goes on all the time. Hopefully there is enough media looking at the Gulf now that they would report on it if it happened.
There may be a way to extract the oil from the sand.
Well, I just did a search and there is a way to extract oil from sand ---> http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/graphic/2005/06/15/GR2005061500827.html
